2017 SUMMER READING PROGRAM

“Build a Better World, READ!”

Summer Reading Program at Ripley Public Library

Plans are underway for many exciting activities and events during the Summer Reading Program to be held at the Ripley Public Library every Friday in June. Join us as we enjoy stories about our theme, “Build a Better World, READ!”

The Reading Program is open to all children, ages preschool through 6th grade. The library will sponsor weekly programs, door prize drawings, take home activities, and much more for everyone to enjoy.

Pre-registration for the reading program begins Monday, May 22nd, and the first 25 children to pre-register will receive a special surprise! Pre-registration will continue until Thursday, June 2nd. Although children can be registered for the program at any time during the month of June, pre-registration is recommended to help the library with planning the events.

Here’s how our program works: parents of young children read at least 20 minutes per day to their children. Children who can read for themselves read 20 minutes per day. Parents record the amount of time read in each child’s reading log and then bring the log back to the library once a week beginning on June 2nd. Each week that the child reads his or her books, he or she will receive a food coupon from a local restaurant.

The library will also give away coloring sheets, bookmarks, more stickers and have a door prize drawing each week. And remember, there isn’t an age limit for children to participate in the reading program – everyone’s welcome!

The special activity programs will be held on Fridays in June, with each one beginning at 11:00 and lasting for approximately one hour. (To ensure the safety of all the children attending these events, parents are asked not to drop off or leave any children unattended – regardless of age.)

Also throughout June, we will have a guessing game to win a Summer Reading Program T-shirt. The winner will be announced in July.

If you’d like more information about any of our programming, please feel free to call the library at 837-7773 or come by the library at 308 N Commerce Street. We hope to see you soon for this fun-filled time of the year!
